Day 2: The Return of Little Jenny!

February 3, 2017

"Disney Heroine" is definitely one of the most memorable songs I've ever written.  :)

First written back in 2007, as part of my "Fat Girlfriend: The Musical," the song is a play on the musical theatre "I Want Song" genre.  In the show, it was sung by the character "Little Jenny," a "metaphorical representation of the protagonist's hopes and dreams" (who also happens to be a puppet - don't ask), but in the years since, it has been sung by some of my favorite actresses.

Like Lucy Zukaitis, at an early Fat Girlfriend workshop:

And Sarah (Arbuckle) Weging, who played Little Jenny in the first full production of "Fat Girlfriend: the Musical:

Not to mention the lovely ladies who've sung "Disney Heroine" as a standalone number, like Cathy Hirsch at an early "Amanda" cabaret:

And Lori Lusted, at a Project 21 Concert at Oklahoma City University:

Let's just say, this Disney heroine gets around.  ;)

You can purchase the sheet music for "Disney Heroine" on Etsy (HERE).
