It is 11:07 PM, and I have roughly 53 minutes left to get today's song published. I'm sitting on my couch, barefoot, writing about writing about writing a song. A basset hound licks the couch nearby. He does not thoroughly appreciate the full "meta-ness" of the situation.
Today's song -- "Another Contemporary Theatre Ballad" - is one that I have always found hilarious, but nobody else has, to my knowledge, ever performed. (A few folks have tried, I think -- I randomly have a "Tenor Key" version on my computer and I can't remember why, but I don't know that anyone has ever actually performed it. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know!)
Here is a video of me giving it a go at "Broadway Karaoke" night at the wonderful Omaha Community Playhouse:
I consider this little ditty my roast of contemporary musical theatre ballads. Like all good roasts, it was done with love and admiration, and just a little bit of sarcasm. (Who, me? Never!)
